Flanders Plain and Coast Flanders by bike, to the rhythm of the knots

Flanders Plain and Coastal Node Point Network

From coastal landscapes of fine sand to charming little villages typical of Flanders, there are a variety of routes to discover the rich heritage and natural beauty of maritime Flanders.

Cycle hubs network Independently and without moderation!

Between plain and coast, Flandre maritime opens its heart to you. Here, every village, every path and every monument has a story to share: fortified towns, windmills, UNESCO-listed belfries and vivid memories of Operation Dynamo.

But this region is also a breath of fresh air: peaceful canals, lakes with changing reflections… A lively, natural setting in which to relax and discover at your own pace.

What is it?

Inspired by Belgian Limburg, where the first signposting was erected in 1995, this tourist cycle route offers a free yet safe experience. Mainly laid out on dedicated cycle lanes, it is based on an ingenious concept: a network in the shape of a spider’s web, made up of interconnected sections joining numbered junctions, the famous “node points”.

Unlike linear cycle routes, this system allows you to create your own infinite loops. At each junction, a sign indicates the possible directions. Cyclists can therefore create their own customised itinerary, according to their own wishes, at their own pace and in complete freedom.

How does it work?

  • On a map* (paper or digital), plan your route by choosing your starting point or Top Departure point.
  • Select the nodes to create your route.
  • Add up the kilometres to find out the distance and duration of your walk. The distances between each node are shown on the map tools. On the digital tools, the calculation is automatic.
  • Write down your numbers or download the GPX route
  • Follow the white and green road signs along the way.
Use your map or the route planner to change your route en route.

The maps of the “points nœuds” network are available free of charge from Terre de Flandre Tourisme.
