Sown at the first breath of spring, in March or April, flax awakens in May in a soft green display. Then comes June, a magical month when the fields are ablaze with thousands of sky-blue flowers, ephemeral and delicate, lasting just a fortnight before giving way to small capsules containing the seeds.
