This museum space is dedicated to the history of the Plaine au Bois remembrance site, recounting the battle of Wormhout-Esquelbecq-Ledringhem and the often little-known rear-guard fighting of Operation Dynamo (May 1940).
It is located on the 1st floor of the Maison du Westhoek and comprises two rooms:
The first is dedicated to objects, archives and photographs recovered thanks to donors and the private collection of Mr Guy ROMMELAERE,The second room is reserved for the screening of documentary films and the re-enactment of events in the region in May-June 1940. These films are in English and will also be available in subtitled versions.
The museum space is not set in stone. Further donations or loans will enrich it and contribute to the memory of the events of the Second World War and the men who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
