Michael Utz studied organ, church music and conducting in Hanover, Berlin and Groningen, notably with Wolfgang Zerer. He worked as an organist in Berlin for several years. In 2003, he was appointed organist and cantor at Brauweiler Abbey Church. He directs the famous music festival. He conducts several large choirs. As an organist, he performs in many European countries and in Japan. In 2020, he was awarded the Kulturpreis of the Rhein-Erft-Kreises. The program includes works by J.S. Bach, C. Ph. E. Bach, Franz Xaver Schnizer and Johann Jacob Froberger.
