Making wine in beer country was the slightly eccentric idea of the founders of the Confrérie des Compagnons du Vin des Flandres. It’s been going on for 30 years now, and the desire to share our production and know-how is still very much alive.

Thanks to generous donors, the brotherhood has succeeded in creating the Musée des Vendanges in the cellars of the Hôtel de Ville.

The exhibition will help you relive the traditions of the Flanders vineyards, thanks to the “Fleur de Lin” wine.

Watten House of Archers

The Maison des Archers in Watten is hosting an exhibition dedicated to vertical pole archery, a typical activity in Flanders and Artois. The aim is to use a bow and arrow to eject small cylinders decorated with tricoloured feathers, known as “birds”, from a grid placed at the top of a vertical pole, known as a perch, which reaches a height of around thirty metres.

A veritable showcase for this sport, the Maison des Archers tells the story of vertical archery, from its origins to the present day.

Herzeele Café des Orgues

Imagine a place, discreet from the street, modest at first glance, but which contains a treasure unique in the world. Walk through the door of the Café des Orgues and you’ll first have to face the Flemish conviviality of the popular café before coming face to face with these mechanical organs, as imposing as they are elegant.

With only twenty or so left in the world, they are the last survivors of an adventure named after Théophile Mortier. Each member of this melodious triumvirate is a full orchestra.
