Description
Since 2015, the Duo Strings & Pipes has consisted of organist and cellist Mattijs Louwye and organist Koen Maris, who perform as a cello-organ duo and in a four-hand/pedal organ ensemble. These versatile combinations allow them to present a varied repertoire that appeals to a wide audience. Both musicians are also proficient on the harmonium, both as soloists and as a duo. Koen Maris earned a master’s degree in organ, and Mattijs Louwye earned a master’s degree in cello and organ at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Antwerp.
Their repertoire includes compositions by Gustav Merkel, Jacques Offenbach, Ernest Bloch, and Denis Bédard, among others.
