The Volckerinckhove horse mill is one of the jewels of Flemish heritage. This carefully restored mill evokes the ingenuity of the old millers and the central role played by grain in life in days gone by. During Heritage Days and other special events, the mill is brought back to life before your very eyes, with the horse spinning around the mill for the enjoyment of young and old alike.

Nestling in the heart of the village, the thatched cottage belonging to the Yser Houck association is a real architectural treasure. With its cob and brick walls and colourful shutters, it tells the story of the simple but meaningful lives of the farmers of yesteryear. Restored with great respect for materials and craftsmanship, it is the perfect embodiment of the region’s rural soul.

With its flower-filled houses, quiet little streets, hiking trails through the Flemish countryside and warm welcome, Volckerinckhove is the perfect place for a timeless interlude. Here, heritage is alive and well, nature is omnipresent, and every encounter carries a northern accent.
